Brief information about NBA, its impact, necessity and significance and most importantly the benefit to the students

About NBA:

The National Board of Accreditation (NBA), India was initially established by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) in the year 1987. NBA in its present form, it is an autonomous body from 2010, with the aim of Assurance of Quality and Relevance of Education, especially of programmes in technical disciplines.
NBA is based on ABET accreditation process followed in USA and has become mandatory to be part of Washington accord which assures seamless employability in any of the Washington accord signatory countries. The new avatar of NBA accreditation process is "outcome based" rather than "input based" as it existed earlier.

What is Accreditation? 

Accreditation is a process of quality assurance and improvement, by which a programme is critically analyzed to verify that the Institution or the programme continuously meets the Norms and Standards prescribed by AICTE from time to time. 

What is Accredition?

The accreditation by NBA is to promote and recognize excellence in technical education—at both UG and PG levels. Institutions, students, employers, and the public,all benefit from the the NBA accreditation process. They also benefit from the process of continuous quality improvement that is encouraged by the NBA's approach to promote excellence in technical education. Through accreditation, the following purposes may be served:
· support and advice to technical Institutions in the maintenance and improvement of their quality.
· confidence and assurance on quality to various stakeholders including students.
· assurance of the good ranking of an Institution to government departments and other interested bodies.
· enabling an Institution to state publicly that it has voluntarily accepted independent inspection and has satisfied all the requirements for satisfactory operation and maintenance of quality in education.

The purpose and impact of accreditation is summarized below Encourages quality improvement by Institutions, Improves student enrollment in terms of quality and quantity.
